With my recent accumulation of all this free time I have had the chance to regather myself and my thoughts, as well as take a look back at my fitness goals and see how things are going. Plus a few unexpected things have popped up that may have thrown a spanner in the works.
Ps. I still LOVE those Asics Gel Nimbus 14 shoes, but am in the market for another pair- any recommendations? I’d prefer to stay with my tried and tested favourite Asics, but I’m open to suggestions.
My original fitness goals were made just over a month ago and were updated just over 2 weeks ago. Below is the updated version, so to keep things in order and avoid confusion…for me not you ha!

So I crossed off another short term fitness goal! Wee! I did my first Grit Strength class a week and a half ago and absolutely loved it. So much so that I ended up signing up for the Grit Strength 21 Day Challenge! Plus, since I’m in the goal-y mood (no not talking soccer here guys) and you may be also, you might want to check out my goals for that challenge.
It feels really good to have both my own fitness goals and these challenge goals there to guide me. It has given me an odd sense of confidence and motivation (even though I know that’s not necessary). I seriously cannot wait to cross off more of my goals and get to the end of my 3 weeks knowing I’ve accomplished those challenge goals.
Now whilst I’m all ‘go get ya’ with some of the goals, others I’m not sure they’ll ever be accomplished. I mean, I may have to change ‘Become trained in CXWORX’ to ‘Become trained in another Les Mills program’, since the recent disappointment. I know I want to train in another one it’s just finding the money and choosing the right fit for me.
Here’s my dilemma: I love all Les Mills Group Fitness classes but if I had to train in another one it’d be a toss up between Grit Strength, Body attack and CX. Ideally, I’d love to train in all three but my pockets don’t currently hold that much moolah. Then I have to take into account what class would work out best for me financially, in terms of getting classes. Not many gyms (currently atleast) have licenses to run Grit Strength classes so already there are less job options out there. Whereas CX is slightly more common and Body attack is just about everywhere. Even though I don’t do it for the money, that’s still something to factor in. Also the chances of me getting a Body Step and attack or Grit double (one class after the other) is pretty rare. It’s more likely that gyms would roster a Step then CX class after. Another thing to think about is the price difference for 30 minute and 1 hr classes, and the effort of having to drive whatever the distance to get to the gym just for a 30 minute class.
Then perhaps the most important thing to factor in is my body. What will I be physically capable of, along with my own gym classes I currently do and the classes I teach at the moment. That’s where I think perhaps Body attack might be too full on and I’d be better off doing a 30 minute class. Grit Strength is only 30 minutes and incorporates weights, which means it’s not just another cardio class. I’d love to teach a weight class to make sure I’m getting the best of both worlds. But then again, Grit isn’t an easy class on the body…by any means. Then I think of CX and it being a less intense class it’d allow me to work on my core without causing too much strain to my body (apart from soreness the day after mind you haha!).
Okay, I realise I’ve just typed you a short novel of all my thoughts. I do apologise but this is currently my dilemma (first world problems?) and I just wanted to get it all out there so you could give me some advice! I need help! In order to mix things up a bit too I thought I’d include a poll where you could vote, if you’d also like to leave a comment with your reasons and justifications I’d absolutely love that! More food for thought I say 😉
What Les Mills program should I train in next and why?
[…] doing it because they’re smart and they see training/exercise/fitness in their long term goals, not just for the short term. I very well know the repercussions of over training, eventually […]
[…] it’s more likely that you’re motivated now more than ever to reach your personal fitness goals, to totally kick butt in this challenge and you just cannot wait for your next Grit Strength class! […]
[…] I’m a goal setter anyway, so this was right up my alley. For those of us who need that little bit of push and organisation- this was the perfect way to keep on task. Although we handed our goals in at the start, actually writing them down imprinted them into my mind so they were never far away when I needed something to help me get one more push up jack in, or stack some extra weight on the bar. Did I accomplish my goals? Well I think so. I know for sure I increased my squat weight- twice actually! Which was an awesome feeling. [Side note: A not so awesome feeling? Lifting the bar up and down between those squats and jumps- I can squat it fine but boy do I struggle to lift it!]. I definitely saw myself getting stronger and fitter also. I was able to work harder during the classes and my other classes benefited too- I can rock out tricep push ups like nobodies business [on the toes people!]. Now goal number 2- the vanity goal. I guess this one is subjective, and someone with my history might not be the best judge in this case, but I did take photos to compare. One at the start of the challenge and near the end. I debated with myself, asked my partner and thought long and hard about whether or not to upload the pictures. I didn’t want to insult, scare, show off, revolt (ha) etc any of you. What I did want to do is show you that it does and can work. Personally, I can see differences- but that might just be me since I tend to go over myself with a fine tooth comb at times. […]
[…] and I feel lucky to do so! I love sharing the Les Mills love and message SO much that I’m also hoping to train in another program soon. The hard part- What program? If only I was made of money so I could do them all, […]
