And for many of you (according to my facebook) this means the start of your holiday break! If that’s not a reason to party and celebrate I don’t know what is. Lucky for me I’ve actually got a Christmas party tonight at my mums. The amount of food she has is ridiculous- I mean how long is the party lasting for?! I’ve also got a 21st to go to, so it’s going to be a busy night for me too. Yes, the busy-ness doesn’t end, until tomorrow that is. If you’re feeling a tad overwhelmed at the moment (and don’t lie to yourself!) maybe taking some time to chill out and read through some zen-like, inspiring quotes is the way to go.
I’m currently at work- which is dead- so I think (fingers crossed) an early mark will be coming my way. Before work I got some last minute errands done, officially wrapped every single present and got some good gym time in. It was a weights day again. I took the advice of a very knowledgeable and amazing friend and did some push ups as a warm up today and felt it did amazing things to prepare my shoulders. I haven’t got any post gym shoulder pain.
I also tried the pull/chin up/tricep dippy machine today!
It was a hoot and I can’t wait till I’ll be doing unassisted chin ups- one handed…or not. Today’s workout was much the same as Wednesday’s- full body- but this time I was a bit more comfortable with the squat rack and decided to increase my squat weights. I did 2 sets of 8 reps with the same weight then increased it slightly to do another 8. Then I increased it more to do 6 and one more time to do 4 reps. I felt much stronger- especially in my lower back and made sure I maintained my depth. I also did some HIIT on the elliptical and treadmill (after the weights) and finished with my own ab work…before going upstairs to participate in a CXWORX class (Love CXWORX 9! Review coming soon!).
Doing free weights hasn’t exactly helped my nasty callous issue that I unfortunately shared with you the other day. Deadlifts and soft hands do not mix. It has caused callouses just under the connection between my palm and fingers. They don’t really hurt, apart from when I’m doing the deadlift motions.
You know I’m a photo kind of girl and I’ve been hankering to get some shots of me free-weighting it up…but with the guys in there, and my girlie gym attire, low weights (compared to these macho men haha), velcro bar padding and overall girlie persona I just don’t have the guts to whip out the pink Iphone. One day though…when that area of the gym is empty 😉
