Fashion isn’t usually featured on this blog. (1) Because I’m always behind with the times- I like to feel truly comfortable with it before I wear it and don’t like seeming too out there. Definitely not a fashion dare devil. (2) I typically live in workout gear, with my hair up (thanks to sweaty-ness from workouts) and with very little make up (unless I’m going out which means mascara is essential- or special occasions I’ll do the whole eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, foundation, blush, powder etc thing). (3) There are much better things to talk about, like food and exercise and food.
But I was pretty proud of myself when I picked out this outfit and I thought I’d spice things up a bit and share what I’m currently wearing. For those out of the know I’m at the Gold Coast for my bf’s company Christmas Party. It’s happening at a very swanky hotel, in the ‘ice’ room with ice sculptures and decorations; featuring a buffet, magician, prizes and more exciting stuff. To say I’m excited is under selling it. I’m not a big party girl, preferring to get my kicks from a great workout, and the last time I had a few beverages was my night on the town with some fantastic girls and guys- before that it was New Years Eve!
So here is my outfit for tonight and if you want any style tips- don’t ask me haha! Nah, I’m actually pretty good with putting combos together and knowing ‘that don’t look good’ and ‘that looks bangin’. I’m my mums personal stylist at times 😉
This top is slightly brighter and more ‘neon’ than the picture shows. I fell in love with the pink as soon as I saw it.
I loved the high waisted aspect of this skirt and the fact that it was a bit different, as the hem gets higher round the sides. I was a bit wary about the length- not wanting to seem too ‘tart’ in front of his work colleagues but I was reassured it was fine. I also love that it’s black and versatile so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to wear it again. Want to know something embarrassing? I plan to wear it back the front..or perhaps how it should be worn- with the zipper at the back. I thought it was odd that the tag was at the front, but I thought that was there error, not mine haha (typical female thing to do?). Oh well, front or back it still looks good- tonight I’m going for the whole ‘unique’ thing and going to wear the zipper at the back for fun.
Finding the right shoes was a case of- I know what I want but I can’t describe it. I saw these and fell in love. Not to mention the price tag was very attractive. I love the thick heel- for stability and the strap with the gold buckle. I also like strappy shoes because they are less likely to feel like they’re falling off your foot the whole time, or to slip off at the heel- do you ever get that? Definitely will be re-wearing these!
This is the necklace I got, but in gold. I love the high neckline top and necklace look and I definitely think it’s an ‘in’ thing at the moment- so you know me, just leading the trends 😉 I’ll also be wearing some simple gold earrings since my hair will be out and straightened. Oh, plus a gold ring for good measure. I decided to paint my nails a pastel coral colour that will go nicely with the gold accessories. For the toes I went something a bit more bold, with a fuchsia type pink to work off the top. Toenail colour is important when you’re wearing peep toe shoes!
There’s my outfit from a complete fashion amateur. However I’m sure many of you are style gurus, so spread the love and let me in on your style/fashion tips and tricks.
What is your number 1 fashion/style tip? Have you got others to share with those less-fashionable? (i.e me)
