Okay so reading the meal- Creamy mushroom and pumpkin risotto, I was instantly sold. You all know I love mushrooms and pumpkin– and I just happen to enjoy a good risotto too 😉 How could it not be totally delicious… or is it all too good to be true?
Before we get into it lets scope it out.
For some reason I’ve never really enjoyed the presentation of Weight Watcher products, the plain blue and white reminds me of hospitals and tasteless food (Don’t ask me why haha). But that risotto? Well that sure does look good- I wonder what it’ll look like in reality? Haha. Not like the picture I’m guessing. Before we get to that check out the ingredients.
I’m actually not totally hating it, with most of the ingredients I can recognise. But hydrolyzed vegetable protein? Ughhh…k. Eating frozen foods sounds dangerous haha.
The nutritional information isn’t too bad either. It is low calorie, low fat and with moderate sodium (for a frozen meal mind you). However with little calories comes little protein- so I’m thinking this little gym bunny is going to be pretty hungry later! Also the serving size is a bit smaller than most meals.
So do you reckon it looks like the picture?
What about now?
I will admit it’s not identical but it’s good enough in my books 😉 When I first removed it from the microwave a nasty parmesan smell went up my nostrils (I hate the smell of melted parmesan cheese). Instantly I thought ‘oh crud this is going to take like gross cheese’ (yup such an intellectual I am). Fortunately, it doesn’t and it actually tastes the opposite! I am so pleasantly surprised at how good it is actually. It isn’t overly creamy or winey tasting, which is a plus in my books because I don’t particularly like that anyway. The pumpkin taste is pretty minimal but it’s there. I also enjoyed the little pieces of corn mixed through. Vegetables were pretty limited once again but since I’m prepared with more it didn’t bother me much. There was plenty of sauce which is perfect since I was also adding my own vegies and mushrooms to the mix. This allowed everything to be coated and delicious.
Guys this is actually really good. It may even be the best frozen meal I’ve ever eaten. It’s actually so good that I don’t want to keep reviewing different meals haha, but I will- for the blog’s sake 😉 The official review out of ten for this dish is 8.5 or 9/10. If you ever need a frozen meal- I’d try to find this one. So far it’s definitely in number 1 place, and I have a feeling it’s going to be hard to beat 😉
Weight Watchers’ food products’ color theme makes me think ‘hospital’ too!! Maybe it’s because a lot of my scrubs are that pale blue color???
Thanks for the review! I’ll keep an eye out for this =D
Haha maybe 😛 Anytime 🙂
