Today should really be known as sore Saturday because I am sore all over people! (Don’t worry I am trying to schedule a massage for tomorrow) But since that’s a tad unexciting let’s go with something a little more upbeat- maybe Super Saturday? No, it’s been done. Hmm, how ’bout Strut-your-stuff Saturday? That’s more like it 😉 And as I told my Step class this morning- let’s see your moves 😉
Haha I always think of this guy when I picture someone strutting- oh and the message is so me too 😉
So as you already know my day started with Body Step as well as a Body pump class. Never have I been more excited for a recovery day- my body is absolutely smashed and I am very proud of it for putting up with my gym hectic schedule. I’ve been making sure I look after it by eating whatever it needs whenever it’s hungry, and I’ll make sure to reward it with a sneaky dessert tonight- because really it deserves it 😉 I’m at work now and Saturdays at work are always breezy days- basically I blog, read blogs and paint my nails haha! Oh and be proud of me because- I took a photo of my sweet breakfast this morning. I’m not sure if I’ve ever shared it with you but I was determined to remember today!
A mix of multigrain and wholegrain oats with chia seeds, milk + water, banana slices, crushed almonds and honey.
I was also pleasantly surprised with this baby when I got home from work last night.
Once the first book (& a progress report) ended I was a bit too eager to get into the second, and well the bf got the hint and there it was 😉 I’m already 130 pages in too. Did a certain character and her appearance in the book slightly freak anyone else out? I got a bit jumpy and was a tad creeped out- constantly checking my back haha.
Oh and since you love reading the random, useless information I lovingly share with you, guess what I am LOVIN’ at the mo? Pink lady apples (have I told you this already? oh well you get to hear it again lucky things). I usually go for red delicious but for some reason I felt a bit adventurous (slow down there girl) and chose pink ladies instead. And oh my, what sweet honey tasting goodness. The bf thinks they taste like bubblegum (seriously the palette of an amateur food-taster person), but either way they are delicious. I definitely recommend picking some up on your next grocery shop.
It’s calling you!
Speaking of food, (what me talking about food? Who woulda thought) I was politely informed and reminded by a reader last night (runservecook, thank ya!) that I have a few more lines to make through my Foods To Try List (ahh love crossing things off). So without further ado, here we go:
CarobProtein Bar/BallRaw food barPeanut butter froyo(tbh, I prefer ice cream)
- Coconut butter
Coconut flourAlmond butter(& other nut butters for that matter)- Flax seeds
- Cacao
- Unsweetened almond milk (because to be frank the only almond milk I’ve seen here is so sweet it’s gross and the first ingredient is cane sugar..If I wanted to drink liquid sugar I’d go with something a bit cheekier thanks).
- Chobani yogurt (apparentally it is in NSW atm and making it’s way to QLD stores soon!)
- Lara bars
- Cashew butter
- Protein powder
- Tempeh
So I crossed two off- coconut flour and almond butter. One of these was a huge success, the other a huge disappointment. You know my issues with coconut flour, but I just can’t get over the bitter,nasty,chemical-like taste it had. I really hope it was just the product I bought and not all coconut flours taste like that? (Foodie Fiasco, help me out? You’re the coconut flour queen). BUT that almond butter, mmmm mmmm (can you picture the noise I am making? Good 😉 ). It has a delicious subtle sweetness too it that makes me swoon. When comparing natural peanut butter and almond (nothing added but the nuts baby), almond butter comes out the winner in terms of nutrition. It is higher in vitamin E, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, antioxidants and monounsaturated fats (More can be found here). I’ve also added three new items to the bottom list (in bold for convenience). I just know one of those will be crossed off this weekend (can you guess which one?).
I am off to get my blog reading on but will be back with more later. Stay tuned 😉
When is your next recovery day? Do you regularly schedule recovery times? Any new foods you want to try or think I should add to my list?
I have tried almond butter, love it! Especially justins maple almond! I want to try cashew butter too! Chobani is good! And protein powder is good!
